Assignment updates

We will continue to prepare for the following assignments in class.

• Assignment 3 - descriptive writing - point of view (home). This will be due May 21st. Details to follow.
• Assignment 4 - report on chapter of novel (class) - Monday 26th May. This is based on an excerpt from the Kite Runner, requiring your interpretation of its relevance and its meanings.
• Debates - 9/11th June. See poll on choice of debating topics and also the suggested topics in the link I have given under DEBATES:

• RESEARCH PROJECT - REPORT based on either on novel or forum contribution, incorporating contributions to blog discussion and research. Book report due 28th May.
• Assignment 5 - argumentative article - June 16
• ORALS 23/25 (see schedule)

The Kite Runner - Task 1. Background Research - presentations

TASK 1. BACKGROUND RESEARCH - presentations (WEDNESDAY 30th April).

In your blog groups, to explore the religions, ethnic groups and cultures, role of men and women, war and politics and immigrants: Prepare a short presentation - 20 minutes maximum per group.

You could include:

1. A quiz to test background understanding of Afghanistan and its peoples.

2. Images/videos /maps of Afghanistan and its peoples.

3. A trip along the paths that the novel The Kite Runner follows.

Janice Russell is a freelance writer and coaching consultant. She is well published in the UK in counselling, has one self published novel, and gained an MA Creative Writing in the UK. She now lives in the Algarve, and is the President of Network, the association for women working in the Algarve. Janice will be presenting a dynamic workshop, in English, on writing from different perspectives.
